Global Player Casino is an unusual operation. The senior executives hail from the corporate world and the brick-and-mortar gambling business (see our Interview), the software is proprietary, and the suite of games is unique in that you have an unusually wide variety of choices for each game.
There are, for instance, six variations of Blackjack including “Las Vegas Downtown,””Las Vegas Strip,” and Spanish 21. Roulette comes in both American and French rules. Slots is available with and without Jackpot. And there are no less than 21 variations of Video Poker, with and without Jackpots.
That’s not enough for you? How about single-player Blackjack where you can play one hand at a time, all table positions at once, or just your favorite chairs. Finally, there’s multi-player Blackjack and Roulette for the real money players.
I’d seen Global Player’s games before so I downloaded the modest 5-meg package, installed, registered, and deposited $30. As part of the deposit confirmation, I saw that Global Player’s $30 sign-up bonus had been added to my account. Off to a nice start.
You can test the drive Global Player software via their Guest games. You’ll receive $1,000 in demo money and unlike many other casinos ligaz888, you’ll be connected to game server while in Guest mode. This means you’re playing the same games you would if you deposited real money. Of course, this requires you to be online while you play, but the only restriction you’ll encounter is that Guest players are limited to the single-player games.
As I said, I knew what to expect so I went straight to Member Login and tried both the French style Roulette and the 9/6 Jacks or Better VideoPoker — even though the pay table was a bit less than full-pay. Frankly, I took a bit of a beating. Then I moved on to “Las Vegas Downtown” Blackjack with it’s single deck, a dealer who stands on 17s and a “late surrender” option. By focusing on basic 1-deck strategy, I rallied back to a little better than par.
At this point my account said I had 55 “credits,” so I decided to quit while I was ahead. But once at the cashier I discovered I was only allowed to withdraw $45, while the remaining $10 was reserved as (nonrefundable) Bonus dollars. What’s up?

It turns out Global Player has an unusual way of tracking the player’s use of the Bonus $30. If I understand it correctly, the Bonus dollars are only used to cover your losses, not your wagers. In other words, you have to lose the Bonus bucks in order to clear them out and then be left with a real cash balance.
Fair enough, back to the tables. Soon enough my Bonus dollars were history and I was up 50 real dollars from my initial deposit: time to try that cashier again. The withdrawal process was smooth and straightforward that time. The initial deposit went back to the credit card and a $50 check should be on its way to my mailbox. Not bad for less than an hour’s work, start to finish.
So, let’s wrap it up: the games at Global Player are high quality with a very pleasant interface, the user options numerable, the web site well organized and informative, and the banking process painless. I suspect that the games are not the absolute latest technology, but they are nice to look at, easy to play, and reliable.
While I’d still like to know exactly how that Bonus business works, that’s a pretty small quibble in a pleasant casino visit. All in all, Global Player has impressed me as a topnotch, professional operation.
